The North Port community is undertaking an important project that will identify existing features, solicit community input, and identify consensus elements within the framework of Imagine North Port – A Citizen Master Plan for quality of life issues affecting the City of North Port, its residents, businesses and visitors in the future.
The Project
Imagine North Port – A Citizen Master Plan, is a collaborative community project sponsored by Vision North Port - a 501(c) (3) corporation. This project will result in a citizen based long range vision for the city of North Port and will engage the citizenry in defining the future needs of North Port. The plan will be created in 2009 and will include extensive public involvement through public community design charrette’s and stakeholder outreach. It will build upon previous research and studies, and prepare a vision plan that identifies future community needs.
Major project funding for the Imagine North Port – A Citizen Master Plan has been provided by a grant from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice.
The Outcomes
The data collection, analysis and input provided will be documented and serve as a basis for the published Citizen Master Plan. The outcomes of the public outreach and major community consensus inputs will help shape the community vision and this website will be used as an organization tool and clearinghouse site to identify critically important features and important enhancements for North Port’s future.
How to Participate
The Citizen Based Plan planning process requires active participation from all segments of the community. Imagine North Port includes several ways in which you can participate. The easiest way to stay in touch with the project is by signing up for direct e-mail updates. The project team will use your email address to provide you with up-to-date information when it is added to the website.
Other ways in which to participate, include:
- Attend the upcoming Fall Community Design Charrette.
